This October I visited the Atlantis Resort and Casino on Paradise Island, Bahamas. This place was one of the top resorts on my bucket list. The stay at Atlantis The Cove wasn’t initially planned due to the high room rates there, but after the first visit to the casino at Atlantis and some lucky slot cash outs it became possible. After three nights at the Colonial Hilton in Nassau we checked into a Club Suite at Atlantis The Cove for two nights.

The Atlantis is part of the Autograph Collection and member of Marriott Rewards. Though the Membership Rewards elite level perks do not really apply there. For example even Membership Reward platinum elite members don’t get access to the club at The Cove. I decided to book a Club Suite to get an impression of what The Club has to offer.

THE RESORT

The Atlantis Bahamas is a resort on Paradise Island featuring a huge water park, a giant seawater aquarium, a casino and several other attractions. The whole property is really amazing and its size makes it impossible to explore everything in a single day. During the day the water park offers plenty of options to spend the time. There’s a river running through the middle of the resort where you can float on tubes. It takes you approximately 20 minutes to go one round on the rive. There are also many other slides with tunnels going through a lagoon full of sharks and a steep, dark drop called The Abyss.

If you get exhausted from all these water park activities, the pools, the beaches and the lagoon are perfect places to chill out and get some rest. At The Cain at The Cove there’s an adult only area where DJs play music at the pool.

One of the main attractions of the resort are the huge fish tanks which are linked to the lagoon and where thousands of colorful fish swim their circles. The under water tunnels with glass walls create an amazing experience when you walk through them and see sharks swimming over your head.

Besides that there are many other attractions such as Dolphin Cay where you can pet dolphins and swim with them and plenty of sports activities from tennis, golf, stand up paddling to diving.

And of course there also is the casino, which is one of the biggest in the Caribbean. But I’ll get to the casino later with a detailed review.

With all these attractions and activities you surely won’t get bored at this place!

THE COVE and THE CLUB

After checking in we were escorted to our room by one of the friendly agents from the club reception because we had booked a Deluxe Ocean Suite with club access at The Cove. The room was on the 21st floor, just one level below the club. The nicely arranged, bright suite featured two flat screen TVs, a balcony, a small couch area and a spacious bathroom. As a welcome present you get your own beach bag and two complimentary bottles of water.

The reason why I decided to book the club access is that you receive complementary breakfast, afternoon delights, cocktail happy hour and evening desserts. Basically you can get free snacks and drinks at the club all day and the evening cocktails are really good.

At an extra daily cost of 100,-$ per person that’s still a good deal as the prices in the resort are quite high. A cocktail at the pool bar costs between 14,-$ and 17,-$ for example.

The Club is located on the top floor. At the entrance are two reception desks where you can get help from the club agents if you have any questions regarding your stay our if you want to plan activities at the resort. The staff always addressed me by name and was always friendly and helpful.

Entering the club, there’s a bar on the right side and a spacious seating area with tables. At the end on the left there’s the buffet. There’s a long balcony with additional tables and chairs outside.

The service at the club was always very polite and the choice of food and beverages was really good. Especially the breakfast and evening sushi snacks were my favorites. And of course the cocktail happy hour! 🙂

THE CASINO

The Casino at Atlantis is the biggest casino in the Caribbean featuring 85 gaming tables and more than 700 slot machines. There are also some outdoor gaming tables at the Cain pool. You’ll find everything you’d expect from a modern casino. I’d wish they had more European roulette tables as the majority are American roulette tables with double zero.

The place reminded me of the casinos in Vegas with its craps and American roulette tables. Smoking is allowed in the whole casino and you get free drinks when you play on the tables or slot machines.

My budget for the casino was 200,-$. I tried one of the American roulette tables first and quickly lost 100,-$. So I decided to invest my remaining 100,-$ to check out the slot machines and one of them proved to be lucky that day. It was a big Wonder Woman slot machine that paid out more than 1.400,-$. That left me with 1.200,-$ profit which I later invested in 2 nights at The Cove.

At the end the money remained at the Atlantis resort but I considered it as a discount on the expensive room rates. They charged 825,-$ for one night at The Cove including club access.

The service in the casino was ok, the staff was friendly. Sometimes I had to wait quite long for the drinks but overall it was a nice casino experience.
